Mixology Monday: Mocktail Mules
For our Summer Whites party hosted by entertaining expert and lifestyle blogger Kelly Golightly, we offered a refreshing virgin cocktail based on a Moscow Mule — a Mocktail Mule. Simply mix three parts premium white ginger beer (ginger beer is non-alcoholic) with one part freshly squeezed lime juice (it’s imperative to use fresh lime juice for a drink with so few ingredients). In true Gatsby style, a few silver flasks filled with vodka were kept on hand for those who wanted a little nip in their Mules. Large glass drink dispensers made it easy for guests to help themselves to mocktails.
Water in clear bottles (to keep with the white theme) were also on hand, as were miniature bottles of sparkling lemon-flavored water, which were presented in white swan planters fashioned as ice buckets. (Tip: Swan planters have holes on the bottom, so be sure to place them on the grass.)
Drinks were served in one of two glasses: elegant faux-crystal champagne glasses and glass mason jars. Each drink was topped with a handmade drink parasol.
